Marcos volunteered this information during his live press statement Wednesday, May 11 at his campaign headquarters in Mandaluyong City.

"So in the next few days we will continue to keep you informed about what's going on and I think I am already authorized by--to announce the first nominee that we will be giving to the Commisison on Appointments when the time comes should I be proclaimed. And that is that our incoming vice president has agreed to take the brief of Department of Education (DepEd)," he said of Duterte, who served as his running mate in the just-concluded May 9 polls.

Both Marcos and Duterte are perceived to have insurmountable leads over their closest rivals in the presidential and vice presidential race, respectively.

"So si Inday Sara, sabi niya kaya niya--tinanong ko sa kanya kung kaya niya yung trabaho dahil mahirap ang trabaho ng secretary of education. So pero nag-agree naman siya (I asked Inday Sara if she can take on the job because the job of secretary of education is difficult. But she agreed )," Marcos said.

"At palagay ko (And I think), kasama na dyan dahil (this includes that) she is a mother, and she wants to make sure that her children are well-trained and well-educated and that is the best motivation that we can hope for.

"So that is the first announcement that I can make that has come out of this process," Marcos said.

It is tranditional for the vice president to be offered a Cabinet post by the chief executive.

Marcos and Duterte comprise the UniTeam tandem.
