Tiangcos win in Navotas City


Navotas City's lone district Rep. John Rey Tiangco is the new mayor of the city after getting more than 80,000 votes while his brother, incumbent Mayor Toby Tiangco, takes over his post at the House of Representatives.

Tiangco, who ran under the Partido Navoteno slate, got a total of 80,908 votes out of 129,907 who voted in the city on Election Day.

He bested his two other rivals for the post, namely RC Cruz (under Aksyon Demokratiko), who got 44,970 votes, and independent candidate Mario Camacho, who had 303.

The current congressman was proclaimed as the new mayor by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Board of Canvassers officials in Navotas City.

In a Facebook Live, Tiangco thanked his constituents for their trust and support.

“Sana magkaisa po tayo at magtulungan, para makamit po natin ang ating pangarap na patuloy na iangat ang ating lungsod at ang buhay ng bawat Navoteno (I hope that we will unite and work together so that we can achieve our dream of improving our city and the lives of every Navoteno),” he said.

His running mate, Kap Tito Sanchez, also won as vice-mayor.

Elected councilors in the city’s first district are Rey Monroy, RV Vicencio, Lance Santiago, Richard San Juan, Alvin Jason Nazal, and Tarok Mano.

The second district’s winning councilors are Migi Naval, Clint Geronimo, CJ Santos, Niel Cruz, Abu Gino-Gino, and Liz Lupisan.
