Remulla, Tolentino proclaimed Cavite governor, vice governor


CAVITE – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed reelectionist Governor Jonvic Remulla on May 10.

Remulla got over 1.3 million votes in the province, far beyond his three independent opponents who got 122,569 votes and below.

During a Facebook live session on the evening of May 9, Remulla thanked supporters for giving him a fresh mandate.

He also called on his constituents from opposing political sides to bury the hatchet, stop the hate, and begin healing.

Comelec also proclaimed Remulla's running mate, Tagaytay City Councilor Athena Tolentino, as Cavite's new vice governor.

Tolentino, daughter of Cavite 8th District Rep. Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino and Tagaytay City Mayor Agnes Tolentino, got almost 1.2 million votes.

Athena Tolentino's sister, Aniela Tolentino was also proclaimed as Cavite 8th District representative – the current position of her father.

Also present during the proclamation was Sen. Francis Tolentino, brother of Rep. Bambol Tolentino.
