Cayetano proclaimed as new Taguig mayor


Lani Cayetano emerged as the winner in Taguig mayoral race.

The Taguig City Board of Canvassers proclaimed Cayetano and the other winners in local elections on May 10.

Based on the official count, Cayetano, who ran under the Nacionalista Party, garnered 272,876 votes to win against rival Arnel Cerafica of the Partido Pilipino sa Pagbabago (PPP), former Taguig-Pateros congressman, who received 87,266 votes.

Cayetano will replace her brother-in-law, incumbent Mayor Lino Cayetano, who opted not to run for reelection.

Winning as vice mayor is Arvin Alit, Cayetano’s running mate, over Janelle Cerafica of PPP and wife of Arnel.

Ading Cruz of NP was proclaimed congressman of the First District of Taguig-Pateros after beating Allan Cerafica of PPP.

In the Second District of Taguig, Pammy Zamora of NP won as the new congresswoman against Che Che Gonzales of PPP.

Elected councilors in Taguig’s District 1 are Jaime Labampa, Gigi de Mesa, Tikboy Marcelino, Joy Panga-Cruz, Gamie San Pedro, Carlito Ogalinola, Commissioner Aquino and Totong Mañosca. Proclaimed District 2 councilors are Nicky Supan, Jaime Garcia, Marisse Balina-Eron, Yasser Pangandaman, Jomil Serna, Ed Prado, Edgar Baptista and Alex Penolio.
