The camp of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos is upbeat over what it described as the seemingly "heavy" turnout of voters in the May 9 national elections, saying this favors the Ilocano Palace bet.
"We have received many reports of seemingly strong and heavy voters' turnout this election and I think it's a positive and encouraging development for us," Marcos spokesperson, lawyer Vic Rodriguez said in media briefing at the BBM (Bongbong Marcos) Headquarters in Mandaluyong City.
The briefing took place at past 6 p.m. Monday, or less than a hour before the close of polling precincts on election day.
"I think it's a very positive and for me, personally, it's an encouraging news to be getting since early this morning, that many voters have trooped early to their precincts and a strong and heavy voters' turnout," Rodriguez said.
"And to my assessment, a strong and heavy turnout of voters would be favorable to Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s candidacy," he added.
For months, pre-election surveys have projected a rare majority victory for Marcos, as well as his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Marcos and Duterte comprise the so-called UniTeam.
Asked about their current level of confidence about the poll results, Rodriguez said: “We’re not complacent.”
