The church-based poll watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) on Sunday, May 8, launched its command center for the May 2022 national and local elections.
PPCRV is an accredited citizens’ arm of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and its tasks include monitoring the unofficial parallel count and validating votes by checking election returns via information transmitted through their servers.
The poll watchdog’s command center is located at the Quadricentennial Pavilion of the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
PPCRV chairperson Myla Villanueva previously stated that around half a million individuals have volunteered to work with them for the upcoming polls.
Meanwhile, Comelec Chairperson Saidamen Pangarungan, during the blessing and launch of the command center, extended his gratitude to PPCRV for ensuring an “honest and clean elections.”
“The Comelec welcomes your participation and we are also ready to accommodate your reports and observations of any irregularities you might witness,” said Pangarungan.
Futhermore, UST Secretary General Rev. Fr. Louie Coronel officated the blessing of the command center.
It will operate beginning Monday, May 9 until Friday, May 20.
