May 9 National and Local Elections by the numbers


Here are some fast facts about the May 9, 2022 polls.

There are 67.4 million registered voters in the May 9 polls, 65.7 million are local voters while 1.7 million are overseas.

Data from the Commissiin on Elections (Comelec) also showed that of the 65.7 million voters who are registered locally, 32 million are male while 33.6 million are female.

The regions with the most number of voters are Calabarzon with 9.1 million, followed by the National Capital Region with 7.3 million, and Central Luzon with 7.2 million.

The Top 10 provinces in terms of registered voters are Cebu 3,288,778; Cavite 2,302,353; Pangasinan 2,096,936; Laguna 2,045,687; Bulacan 2,007,523; Negros Occidental 1,946,639; Batangas 1,819,071; Iloilo 1,628,752; Rizal 1,601,962; and Pampanga 1,580,473.

While the Top 10 vote-rich cities are Quezon City 1,403,895, City of Manila 1,133,042, Davao City 992,538, Cebu City 733,044, Caloocan City 700,279, Antipolo City 471,250, Makati City 458,362, Pasig City 457,370, Taguig City 449,359, and Zamboanga City 445,240.

Voters will choose among 46,193 candidates who are vying for 18,100 seats.

Of the 18,023 local seats that are up for grabs, 832 unopposed.

Up for grabs are the following: President (1), Vice President (1), Senators (12), Party-List (63), Member, House of Representatives (253); Governor (81), Vice Governor (81), Member, Sangguniang Panlalawigan (782); Mayor (1,634); Vice Mayor (1,634), and Member, Sangguniang Panlungsod/Bayan (13,558).

Voters will cast their votes in 106,174 clustered precincts in 37,140 voting centers from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
