‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ star Kim Seon-ho thanks fans for birthday greetings

Korean actor Kim Seon-ho, star of last year’s drama “Hometown Cha-cha-cha,” celebrated his 36th birthday with a message to his fans.

Kim Seon-ho marked his birthday on May 8 by posting a photo on Instagram. In his message, he apologized to fans but thanked them for their birthday wishes.

“I'm sorry to make you go through a hard time due to my shortcomings. Thank you for congratulating me on my birthday this year, too. I will cherish the feelings you gave me and I will become an actor who can repay your support,” the actor said.

This is his first post on Instagram in nearly seven months since marking the end of "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha" on Oct. 17.

Kim Seon-ho’s popularity rose further when he starred in “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” with actress Shin Min-a.

However, his career came to a temporary halt when his former girlfriend uploaded a post on Oct. 17, the day that last episode of “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” aired, and made accusations against the actor.

On Oct. 20, the woman updated her online post and wrote, “I am sorry that my writing has caused unintentional damage to many people. There was a time when both he and I truly loved each other but I also feel bad to see him collapse in an instant due to some of my extreme posts. I received an apology from him and it seems that there was a misunderstanding between us.”

He is currently filming his debut movie “Sad Tropics,” which will also star Go Ara and Kim Kang-woo.

The film, directed by Park Hoon-jung, is about a Korean-Filipino (Kopino) boy, who has a Korean father and a Filipino mother, who dreams of becoming a boxer. He goes to Korea to find his father who abandoned him and meets bad guys.

Kim Seon-ho flew to Thailand at the end of March to film “Sad Tropics.”

In the Gallup Korea year-end poll released last December, Kim Seon-ho was chosen as the No. 1 TV actor who shined in 2021, garnering 7.8 percent.
