The Department of Health (DOH) said that vaccination sites will be set up near polling places on election day to entice more people to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
"Para naman doon sa ating mga kababayan, may sinet-up po tayong vaccination sites sa lahat ng polling precinct (For our citizens, we have set-up vaccination sites in all polling precincts)," said DOH Undersecretary and Spokesperson Maria Rosario Vergeire during a public briefing on Saturday, May 7.
"Pagkatapos niyo pong bumoto maaari po kayong dumeretso dun kung wala pa kayong booster o di kaya ay kailangan pang kumpletuhin ang primary series. Ito po ay bigay ng ating pamahalaan libre para sa inyong lahat para tayo ay magkaroon ng tuloy tuloy na proteksyon (After you vote, you can go straight there if you don't have a booster yet or if you still need to complete your primary series. The government will provide this for free so that we can have continuous protection)," she added.
This initiative is in coordination with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), said Vergeire.
“These can be pop up vaccination sites or tents, which will be located outside of the polling centers, 30 meters radius from polling sites. So, after voting, those willing, can get their vaccinations there,” the DOH spokesperson told reporters in a Viber message.
“Yes, Comelec agreed as long as it is 30 meters radius from polling centers,” she added.
Eligible Filipinos only need to bring their identification cards or vaccination cards, said Vergeire.
