CAVITE CITY – Authorities are investigating an indiscriminate firing incident at the barangay hall of Barangay 45-A here on Saturday, May 7.
Cavite Provincial Police Office said the incident was reported by Barangay Chairwoman Josephine Urubio, who heard the gunshots from her house at around 4:00 a.m.
When Urubio checked the barangay hall, she found the glass sliding door shattered and six fired shells of a .45 caliber gun scattered around the premises.
A review of the CCTV footage showed two unidentified male suspects shooting at the barangay hall and fleeing after the incident.
Mayor Totie Paredes condemned the shooting in a Facebook post and stressed that the city government is not tolerating violence, especially with the elections only a few days away. He also called on his constituents to remain vigilant but not give in to fear.
The authorities are now working to identify and arrest the suspects.
