PPCRV expects at least 85% voter turnout on May 9

The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), on Friday, May 6, said that they are expecting a high voter turnout in the May 2022 polls.

“Ako ay very positive at very optimistic kaya ang iniisip ko nyan ay aabot tayo ng 85 percent sa voter surge (I am very positive and very optimistic so I think we will reach 85 percent of voter surge),” said PPCRV National Trustee and Director Dr. Arwin Serrano during the Laging Handa public briefing.

PPCRV is an accredited citizens arm of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for this year’s polls.

Meanwhile, Serrano said that the Council continues to partner with the Commission to ensure the conduct of fair, clean, and safe elections.

“Meron tayong ginagawang pagtulong sa pagdating ng mga vote counting machine at paraphernalia sa ating different voting centers. On election day ay meron tayong voters assistance desk na mag gu-guide sa ating mga botante (We are doing something to help with the arrival of vote counting machines and paraphernalia at our different voting centers. On election day, we also have a voters assistance desk to guide our voters),” said Serrano.

Serrano also explained that they will monitor at least 106,174 voting precincts during the election period. There are also special polling precincts and more or less 37,000 voting centers across the country, he added.

Furthermore, apart from various election-related violations, Serrano added that they will monitor the public’s adherence to the minimum public health standards, including but not limited to wearing masks and observing proper distancing, to avoid the re-emergence of infections.
