PDEA: P1.9-M kush seized, Nigerian nabbed in Pampanga drug sting


A Nigerian national was arrested by authorities after he allegedly yielded a package that contained P1.95 million worth of kush or high-grade marijuana in a controlled delivery operation in Angeles City, Pampanga on Thursday, May 5.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the suspect as Ogechi Uzoma Madu, a Nigerian national who is presently residing in Barangay Cutcut, Angeles City.

Madu was the consignee of the package that came from Greenwich, United States of America (USA) and arrived at the Port of Clark on April 29, 2002.

In a statement, the PDEA noted that the shipment was subjected to K9 sweeping and physical examination which yielded the positive indication of illegal drugs containing 1,500 grams of kush worth P1.95 million in street value.

Madu faces charges for violation of Section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’

The operation was carried out by the PDEA Regional Office III, Bureau of Custom (BOC) Port of Clark and the local police.
