UniTeam tandem Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, running for president and vice president, respectively, maintained their huge leads, while television host Raffy Tulfo emerged as top senatorial contender in the OCTA Research Group’s pre-election surveys for April 2022.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has also declared the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) as the dominant majority party, and the Nacionalista Party as the dominant minority party for the May 9 national and local elections.

With Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos set to retire on May 8, 2022, President Duterte has appointed Police Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao as officer-in-charge of the nation’s police force.

A criminal case is set to be filed against Gwyneth Anne Chua, the so-called Poblacion Girl, who defied mandatory quarantine rules when she sneaked out of a quarantine-hotel in Poblacion, Makati last December to attend a party with friends.
