K-pop group Pentagon’s Hongseok starts military service

K-pop boy band Pentagon member Hongseok has enlisted in the military to fulfill his mandatory duty.

Hongseok, 28, entered the army training center on May 3 to receive basic military training before serving as an active duty soldier.

Last April 1, Cube Entertainment announced his military service, saying, “Hongseok will be joining the army on active duty on May 3, 2022.”

“In order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the location and time of enlistment will be kept private. We ask for your understanding,” it said.

The agency added, “We truly apologize to the fans who must have been surprised by the news of his enlistment. Please send warm support to Pentagon Hongseok, who will return healthily after diligently fulfilling his military duties.”

Hongseok is the third member of Pentagon to enlist in the military. Jinho was the first member of the group to enlist, entering the training camp in May 2020. He was discharged in November 2021.

Hui enlisted in February 2021 and has been serving as a public service worker. Under the law, all qualified Korean men are required to enlist in the military by age 28.

Hongseok debuted in Pentagon in 2016.
