In Lanao del Norte, Robredo gets backing of mayor

On the last remaining days of the campaign season, Vice President Leni Robredo got the support of Lanao del Norte Mayor Mohammad Daud Nabil “Ayran” Dimaporo Lantud after he endorsed her during the People’s Rally at Pantao Ragat Central School on Wednesday, May 4.

Thousands of Robredo’s supporters from various municipalities poured into the school premises despite heavy rains and cheered Lantud’s endorsement.

“Today, we are officially endorsing our next President, Insh’Allah – Madam Leni Robredo. Makakaasa po kayo, na kami at ang buong mamamayan ng Pantao Ragat, kasama ang aming buong grupo sa lalawigan ng Lanao del Norte, Insha’Allah po, nasa inyo aming suporta (You can rely on us, that all of the people of Pantao Ragat, together with the whole group of the province of Lanao del Norte, Insha’Allah, you have our support),” the mayor said.

“This coming May 9, sa inyo po ang aming boto (you have our votes),” Lantud added.

Robredo and Lantud were joined onstage by Vice Mayor Lacson Lantud and former Mayor Eleanor Dimaporo Lantud.

Speaking before the crowd, the Vice President shared that the province has been a recipient of her Angat Buhay program, which aims to alleviate the lives of the country’s poorest of the poor.

“Ang BARMM, ang Lanao del Norte, iba pang mga probinsya dito po sa Mindanao, malapit na malapit sa puso namin. Siguro po kung mayroong lugar na lagi naming pinupuntahan, dito po ‘yun sa inyo dahil marami po kaming proyekto dito (The BARMM, Lanao del Norte, and other provinces here in Mindanao, are very close to our heart. If there is one place we always visit, it is here because we have a lot of projects here),” Robredo said.

But the Vice President isn’t only endorsing herself as she asked supporters to also vote for her running mate, Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, and her whole Senate slate, so that they can help implement her vision of helping the province.

“Ang pinapangako po namin sa inyo, pag ako po naging Pangulo, pag si Senator Kiko naging Vice President, pag ‘yung mga senador po natin, tinulungan natin, sisiguraduhin po namin na maasikaso po naming ‘yung mga pangangailangan niyo dito sa Lanao (What I can promise you, if I become president, if Senator Kiko becomes vice president, if you help our senators, we will make sure that we will fix your needs here in Lanao),” Robredo said.

The Vice President is set to visit Dipolog City after Pantao Ragat.

On Thursday, May 5, she is scheduled to be in Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, and Agusan del Sur before wrapping up her campaign in Bicol and Metro Manila on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
