Vice President Leni Robredo has reminded her supporters that her bid to become the next president is not only to replace the country's unfair politics but also to uplift the lives of the Filipino people, especially those in the marginalized sectors.
With six days left before the elections, Robredo released on Tuesday, May 3, a video message calling on the public not to give up.
"Ang aking pakiusap, mga mahal kong kababayan, walang bibitiw. Kasama kayo sa pagtatag ng isang gobyernong tapat sa May 9 (My appeal to all my beloved fellowmen: do not give up. You're with me in building an honest government this May 9)," she said in the video uploaded on her Facebook page.
Robredo reiterated that her attempt to become the next president will not only replace the "rotten and unfair politics" with an "honest and trustworthy government."
"Kailangan din nating mai-angat ang antas ng buhay ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino, lalo na yung mga nasa laylayan na halos mawalang ng pag-asa noong kasagsagan ng pandemya (We also need to uplift the lives of each Filipino family, especially in the marginalized sectors that have lost hope during the pandemic)," she added.
The Vice President then cited her platform of government, called "Angat Buhay Pilipino," which she said has a wide scope of plans for the country's economic recovery.
It includes lowering the prices of rice, electricity and gasoline, among others.
Robredo believes the people should be the center of economic recovery. It can be done by having enough jobs that are available for everyone.
The presidential hopeful also said she would rid the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) of corruption to strengthen the country's health system.
Robredo vowed to improve the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps) by giving more benefits to mothers who just give birth, expand the school feeding program, help farmers and fisherfolks, and make reforms on the education system by allocating more budget, among others.
"Pag nai-angat natin ang lahat, lalo na ang mga nasa laylayan, gigising tayo sa kulay rosas na bukas (If we uplift the lives of all, especially those marginalized, we will wake up to a rosy future)," she ended.
