BACOLOD CITY -- Two children died while another was injured after they figured in a motorcycle accident in Barangay Mabini, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Saturday.
Police withheld the names of the two fatalities aged 11 and 16. Wounded was the motorcycle’s 13-year old driver.
Lt. Col. Gil John Despi, Cadiz City police chief, said the three were on their way home to get mangoes when they overtook a truck loaded with sugarcane.
Despi said the speeding motorcycle tumbled as the driver lost control of it.
The three riders were thrown off and their heads hit the pavement, while the motorcycle was run over by a truck, Despi said.
Despi said the 11-year-old boy died on the spot, while the 16-year-old boy died at the hospital on Sunday.
Despi said the wounded minor was already discharged from the hospital due to minor injuries.
He said the truck owner and the victims' families already had a settlement.
