Duterte lightens up campaign rally, tells audience: 'I'll see you all in hell, I'll dethrone Satan'

As things got serious as the election drew near, President Duterte decided to make things lighter by telling the audience at a campaign rally in Taguig that he would see many of them in hell, where he would dethrone Satan.

Duterte made this joke during the campaign rally for the Senate bid of Taguig 1st District Congressman Alan Peter Cayetano in Taguig City on Labor Day evening, May 1.

In his remarks, President Duterte acknowledged that he is at the tail-end of his six-year term and that he has come to terms with whatever may happen after turning over the seat to his successor.

"Once upon a time in Davao and throughout the country, para akong bituin na talagang doon. Pero alam ko na ‘yung bituin na ‘yan, bababa rin ako (I was once like a star up there and I know that start will also descend)," he said.

"Kung mamatay ako, dalhin ko na lang kayo sa... At ‘wag kayong matakot mamatay, ako ang bahala sa inyo (If I die, I'll just bring you all with me to... Don't be afraid to die, I'll take care of you)," he added.

According to the President, only a few people in the venue will go to heaven.

"Sabagay iilan lang dito ang magpunta sa langit, karamihan dito impiyerno ‘yan... Huwag kayong matakot, hihintayin ko kayo doon (Only a few of us here will go to heaven, many will go to hell. Don't be afraid, I'll wait for you there)," he said, earning the laughter of the audience.

Duterte said that people don't have to be afraid of Satan.

"Huwag kayong matakot kay Satanas kasi pagdating ninyo pakitaan ko kayo ng exhibition. Pupuntahan ko ‘yan si Satanas sa trono niya at sampalin ko ‘yang p***** i** ka (Don't be afraid of Satan because when you get there, I'll do an exhibition. I'll approach Satan on his throne and slap that son of a b*tch)," he said.

The President said he will tell Satan: "Umalis ka na diyan kay kung hindi, putulin ko ‘yang buntot mo gawain kong bulalo ‘yang p***** i** (Get out of there or else, I'll cut your tail off and make a stew from it)."

"'Tumabi ka na. Dumating na ang Presidente ng Pilipinas na papalit sa iyo (Step aside. The President of the Philippines will replace you),'" he added.

Meanwhile, the President lamented how billions of pesos worth of illegal drugs are still entering the country despite his warning to kill those involved in the trade.

According to Duterte, perhaps the public can "kill" those responsible for the drug trade as he does not know what to do about the problem anymore.

"Hindi ko alam talaga kung anong gawain natin. Baka naman siguro marunong kayong pumatay, patayin na lang ninyo ‘yang mga p***** i** na ‘yan (I don't know what we should do. Maybe you know how to kill, just kill those sons of b*tches)," he said, making the crowd cheer and chant: "Duterte! Duterte! Duterte!"
