4,119 cops cast votes in W. Visayas ahead of next week’s national polls

ILOILO CITY – A total of 4,119 cops across Western Visayas region were able to cast their votes ahead of the May 9 national and local elections.

Based on the data released by Police Regional Office (PRO-6), the turnout was 96.76 percent of the total 4,257 cops allowed to avail the Local Absentee Voting (LAV).

The remaining 3.4 percent or 138 cops failed to cast their votes during the LAV in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces last April 27-29.

“It is advantageous for the uniformed personnel as most are deployed outside their respective municipalities on May 9,” said Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, PRO-6 director.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office had the highest turnout, as 1,681 cops under its jurisdiction were able to cast their votes, followed by Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office that saw 1,655 of its cops cast their votes.

There were also 311 cops who cast their votes under Aklan Police Provincial Office; 206 cops under Capiz Police Provincial Office; 173 cops under Antique Police Provincial Office; and 93 cops under Guimaras Police Provincial Office.
