ANGEL THOUGHTS

It’s the first day of the merry month of May!

If we were in normal of times, Santacruzan the and fluvial  parades in honor of Mother Mary and the town fiestas would be in full bloom all over the country. Unfortunately, we are still in a “caution” period, so we must keep health protocols in place as we celebrate.

But will this dampen the ardor of the Filipino devotion to the Blessed Mother to whom this beautiful month is dedicated to?

No way, Jose! We Filipinos are deeply devoted to the Mother of our Savior and this love, which was passed on to us by Spaniards 500 years ago will surely stand the test of time. Personally, as it was the custom then, we still name our daughters after Mother Mary’s, with “Maria” preceding or following our first daughter’s first name, sometimes even our son’s names, although it is more common for it to follow a son’s name, as such Jose Maria or Jose Marie.

My baptismal name is Maria Lourdes. Sometimes, I would write it down as Lourdes Maria, a mistake I regretted when I was about to graduate from Maryknoll High School and the Department of Education demanded an affidavit stating my real name. Don’t make the same mistake.

Enjoy the summer winds of May. Don’t stress too much about this coming circus of a national election.  Just go out and vote,

The program host, who greets her worldwide audience with at least a dozen foreign languages and Filipino dialects in her opening spiels, was specifically cited because of her much awaited “Dessert For The  Soul” segment, where she recites at least one verse from the Holy Bible in English and Tagalog, depending on the topic of the day.

She was also chosen because of her contribution to advance the consumer welfare, protection, and satisfaction of her listeners.Viewers on her FB page were all in unison in concluding that her natural beauty of character in and out of the studio is a shining example of inspiration for others to emulate and follow.
