Over the past couple of months, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that they have extended the motor vehicle (MV) registration of cars. This is to allow affected motorists more time to schedule a renewal at their nearest district office.

The same is true for the month of April. Vehicle owners that have license plates ending in 4 need not worry as the LTO has also extended the registration validity of these vehicles.

The announcement was made in a recent Facebook post, the LTO shared that all motor vehicles with license plates ending in 4 will automatically have their MV registrations extended until the end of May. This means affected vehicle owners will have until May 31, 2022, to schedule a renewal at their nearest LTO.

The extension is to give motorists more time to renew their registration without having to worry about penalties for late renewals. However, don’t wait until the last minute. LTO advises motorists to renew their registration right away.

If your vehicle's license plate ends in 4, you now have until May 31. Bear in mind that a passing emissions test or MVIS result is a prerequisite to registration. Find out how to go through one here. Plan ahead for your next visit to your nearest LTO office for a smooth transaction.
