Kelra, Renzio shine as Omega boots out star-studded ECHO

Duane “Kelra” Pillas and Renz “Renzio” Cadua connived as Omega Esports lived up to its show-stopper billing and eliminated the star-studded ECHO with a dominant 3-0 sweep on Thursday, April 28 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay.

Smart Omega

Kelra dazzled on his Wanwan picks in the first two games before providing the late game insurance on his Lunox in the series clincher while Renzio provided the steady presence all-series long as the MSC kings set up a match with second-seed TNC Pro Team in the upper bracket semifinals.

The star gold laner unloaded a 7-4-4 line on the Wanwan in Game 1 before following it up with a 6-2-7 KDA in the second game as Omega took a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.

It was actually ECHO which took control of the opening minutes of Game 1 as Karltzy first ran wild on his Karina pick allowing the third-seed team take down two outer turrets of Omega in the bottomlane as early as the six-minute mark.

After enduring four early kills, Kelra took over in the late game with Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog on the Angela and Christian “Raizen” Sumagui on the jungle Akai providing the protection.

Kelra was the catalyst in the come-from-behind 18-4 Game 1 win, changing the complexion of the match after a three-man wipe on ECHO at the nine-minute mark before closing out the game with a wipe-out.

It was also the same story in Game 2 as ECHO once again lost grip of its early game lead after Kelra got his hands on his core items.

Echo tried to shut down Kelra but the last year’s MSC MVP managed to outplay ECHO players generating huge cheers from the crowd in the venue.

ECHO tried to mount a comeback after a Lord steal using the Dawning Light ultimate from Kurttzy’s Xavier pick but Omega displayed its poised and still come out with the victory with Renzio capped by a Renzio Savage on the Masha in the final clash. Renzio finished with a 8-2-6 line to bag the MVP honors.

With its back against the wall, ECHO played cautious in Game 3 to once again take the lead. A crucial pick off on 3martzy and Karltzy during their 18-minute Lord push allowed Omega to regain its footing in Game 3.

A crucial Altas ultimate from Ch4knu caught four heroes of ECHO during the final Lord take allowing Raizen to secure to the Lord which put the nail on the coffin on ECHO reverse-sweep hopes.
