An Austrian tourist and three Filipinos died while more than 20 others were injured when a bridge collapsed in Loay town of Bohol on Wednesday, April 27.
Lt. Thomas Zen Cheung, spokesman of the Bohol Police Provincial Office, said the 30-year old Austrian was taken to the hospital after he was rescued from the river following the collapse of Clarin Bridge in Barangay Poblacion. He was declared dead in the hospital.

Several vehicles fell into the Loay River when the bridge collapsed at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday and local police said search and rescue operations were immediately launched as they believe some vehicles were pinned under large portions of the bridge that fell into the river.
Initially, four people were confirmed dead, including the Austrian whose wife was among the 20 survivors.
The Clarin was reportedly damaged partially during the 7.2 magnitude quake in 2013. It was reportedly repaired to accommodate the "flowing traffic" until a replacement is constructed. The new bridge bridge that would replace Clarin bridge is set to be open to the public by June this year.

In a Facebook live, Bohol Gov. Arhtur Yap said the bridge apparently collapsed due to the stalled traffic wherein cargo trucks were among those stuck in the middle before the collapse.
"The bridge is only for flowing traffic. But the traffic became stationary and there were cargo vehicles there. And the bridge could not take the weight and that is the reason why it collapsed," said Yap.
