One dead, 2 hurt as dump truck slams workers' barracks in Carmona, Cavite


CARMONA, Cavite – The driver of a dump truck lost control of its brake and crashed into workers' barracks along Governor's Drive in Barangay Mabuhay here on Tuesday, April 26.

Staff Sgt. Charles Virtudez of Carmona Municipal Police Station told the Manila Bulletin that the truck was on its way to Biñan, Laguna when its driver Leonardo Sanggalan Jr. lost control of the vehicle.

The truck slammed into a container van being used as a temporary housing facility for workers of a cargo-handling services company.

Upon impact, the container van collapsed and hit employees Anicor Yuson, Jerome Carlos, and Rodolfo Ibañez at the time of the incident.

The accident also damaged four motorcycles, a car, and a utility vehicle parked near the barracks.

The victims were rushed to Carmona Hospital and Medical Center for treatment but Yuson was declared dead on arrival.

The suspect is currently under police custody and is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property.
