Aero drone show lights up Bulacan skies for Robredo

MALOLOS, Bulacan—Some 50 drone pilots treated Vice President Leni Robredo and her supporters to an aero drone show, the first for any national candidate during this campaign season, at her second rally in vote-rich Bulacan province on Wednesday, April 27.

The pilots formed numerous designs using the drones, astonishing the crowd by forming “Leni,” rose, hearts, hands, and “I (heart) you,” among others.

The drones formed such symbols while 90s hit band Rivermaya sang “Liwanag sa Dilim,” “Awit ng Kabataan,” “Elesi,” and “Kisapmata.”

The crowd also gets treated to a fireworks display since the province is the “fireworks capital” of the country.

Robredo is making the most out of the last 12 days of the election season, solidifying an endorsement from reelectionist Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando by attending his ticket’s proclamation rally on Wednesday, April 27, as she asked supporters to vote for her whole slate and that of the Governor’s.

“Marami na kayo sakripisyo pero meron pa 12 na araw na natitira. Kaya pa ba? Kaya pa? Kung kaya pa, tara na, Bulacan, ipanalo na natin ‘to (You’ve sacrificed a lot but there are still 12 days left. Can you do more? Can you? If you can, let’s go, Bulacan, let’s win this),” she told some 144,000 people during the “Republika 2.0: Tindig ng Bulakenyo” held at the Malolos Sports Complex in Malolos City, Bulacan.

Her second rally eclipsed her first one, which only drew 45,000 supporters, though this has yet to be confirmed by the local police.

“Ginagawa natin ito para sa ating mga anak at sa kanilang kinabukasan. Laban nang laban sa susunod na 12 araw (We are doing this for our children and their future. Fight in the next 12 days),” Robredo added.

Unkabogable star Vice Ganda made a surprise appearance as she asked people once more to make the right choice of voting for Robredo.

“Ang desisyon nyong tumindig at makiisa kay Madam Leni at kanyang mga programa ay desisyong nakakaproud. Hindi kailangan ikubli. Desisyong pwede ipost sa Facebook dahil hindi nakakahiya (You decision to stand up and unite with Madam Leni and her programs is a decision you can be proud of. Decision that should not be a secret. Decision that you can post on Facebook because it’s not embarrassing),” she said.

“Dahil ‘pag sinulat natin sa balota ang pangalang Robredo, tayong lahat ang mananalo (Because when we write on the ballot the name Robredo, we are all winners),” the TV host-comedian added.

Actress Nadine Lustre, who her fans refer to as “President Nadine,” also came on stage, as well as Darren Espanto, Jolina Magdangal, and Yeng Constantino.

Robredo rallied her supporters behind her good governance platform, stressing the need for investors to trust the government.

“Pag wala tiwala mga negosyante hindi dadami hanapbuhay, hindi maaayos sa gusto natin ekonomiya (When businessmen have no trust, jobs will not grow and we will not fix the economy the way we want),” she said.

Robredo lost to former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during the 2016 vice-presidential race by around 190,000 votes.

Bulacan has some two million registered voters this year.
