10 suspects including two cops in robbery, carnapping incidents in Nueva Ecija arrested

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Ten suspects including two cops who were allegedly involved in robbery and carnapping were arrested during a follow-up operation conducted by operatives of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO) on Monday, April 25.

The arrest of the ten suspects was announced on Wednesday, April 27, by Police Regional Office 3 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay.

Col. Jess B. Mendez, acting provincial director of NEPPO, reported to Brig. Gen. Baccay that about 6:30 p.m. on April 24, joint personnel from different Philippine National Police (PNP) stations, and soldiers from the Philippine Army’s 7th Infantry Division, and other law enforcement units conducted a hot pursuit operation in Barangay Marcos Village, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija.

The hot pursuit stemmed from a report that a robbery in a band and carnapping incident had occurred in Barangay Sto. Domingo Quezon City, wherein Chinese nationals Yancheng Lu, Shanxin Ja, and Ronald Guanzon were victimized. The suspects also took away the victims’ gray Chevrolet Captiva.

During the hot pursuit operation, seven malefactors were arrested while the carnapped vehicle was recovered.

Other recovered items included several firearms, ammunition, hand grenades and cellular phones.

Upon arrest, the suspects identified their three other cohorts which led to their subsequent arrest at around 9:30 a.m. on April 25 in Barangay San Juan North, Cabiao Nueva Ecija.

Two of the three suspects are said to be members of the Cabiao Police Station.

All arrested suspects were brought to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for proper disposition.

"We did not fall short in our warnings and memo directives reminding all PNP personnel to never engage in illegal activities,” said Baccay.

“This will serve as a stern warning to all PNP personnel and we will continue to weed out hoodlums and punish the undisciplined among our ranks," added Baccay.
