MNLF announces support for BBM-Sara tandem

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A faction of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) announced its support to former senator Bongbong Marcos and Davao City mayor Sara Duterte in the May 9 elections.

Albakil ‘Thong’ Jikiri, now the MNLF national vice chairman for military affairs after the death of his father Yusop Jikiri, read the group’s official statement during a press conference held in Zamboanga City on April 25, Monday.

The group reportedly made its decision after consultation and dialogue among MNLF leaders in Sulu.

Albakil said their group believes in the wisdom and sincerity of the two leaders especially Marcos whose father, the late president Ferdinand Marcos, was responsible for the 1975 Tripoli Peace Agreement.

Albakil is calling on all MNLF members to support the tandem and the rest of the candidates under the Uniteam.

The MNLF group issued the statement three days after the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) endorsed the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo for President.
