Supporters gift Robredo with grand birthday rally in Pasay City

Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City was conquered on Saturday night, April 23, by a large crowd it might not have had when supporters of presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo converged for her campaign rally cum birthday party.

Event organizers said at least 412,000 people showed up to rally behind Robredo—a number yet to be confirmed by local police.

But the 1.5-km. stretch of Macapagal Blvd. from J.W. Diokno Blvd. to the corner of Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) was filled with people, who were also celebrating Robredo's 57th birthday.

If the numbers were confirmed by police, Thursday’s event would replace what Pampanga tallied on April 9, with 220,000 Robredo supporters showing force in a rival bailiwick.

There was a convergence of color. Previously, supporters would wear pink, Robredo’s campaign color, at her rallies.

But this time, other colors were worn: white if you aim for good education, blue for jobs, yellow for education, red for food and pink for progress.

“Anuman ang kulay mo, welcome ka rito (Whatever your color is, you’re welcome here),” read the sign at the venue entrance, which might also mean everybody’s welcome regardless of political alignment.

Called “Araw Na10 ‘To,” the event ended at about 11:30 p.m. to conclude the nationwide house-to-house campaign, people’s march, and people’s rally held just within the day.

Although a campaign rally, it also became Robredo birthday party, with notable artists entertaining and performing for the crowd.
