In an attempt to garner more votes roughly two weeks before the polls, the UniTeam alliance led by presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte wooed voters of Taguig City during their grand rally Sunday night, April 24.
On top of the familiar Marcos-Duterte tandem and the UniTeam Senate bets, Marcos’s wife, lawyer Liza Araneta Marcos, and youngest son Vincent “Vinny” Marcos were also present at the rally in Arca South, Taguig City.
Araneta Marcos has been rarely seen in the campaign trail, although her appearance in Taguig marked her second participation in a UniTeam rally in two days.
On Saturday, Araneta Marcos also joined the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) on stage to close the grand rally in Bustillos, Sampaloc, Manila.
Meanwhile, the younger Marcos rendered a Ukulele performance for the Taguig crowd.
Also entertaining the audience were UniTeam rally regulars rapper Andrew E; the band Aegis; singer Ima Castro; and comedians Randy Santiago, Ai-Ai Delas Alas, and Bayani Agbayani.
Attendees to the Taguig rally were overzealous in their support to the UniTeam alliance to the point that many of them fainted in the thick crowd and required medical assistance.
This prompted some of the UniTeam Senate candidates to halt their speeches to direct the onsite medics toward the fallen supporters.
Duterte herself acknowledged the intensity of the crowd.
“Di ko pahahabain ang aking talumpati kasi nararamdaman ko po na medyo init na talaga ang ating crowd at marami na po ang nahimatay (I won’t have a lengthy speech because I can feel that the crowd is somewhat heated and many have fainted),” she said.
As per the Commission on Elections (Comelec), there are about 449,359 registered voters in Taguig City.
Just 15 days or a little over two weeks remain before the May 9, 2022 national elections.
