Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Ma. "Joma" Sison has branded as "fake news" the reports that circulated online which claimed he has been acting as an adviser of presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo.
In a statement posted on CPP's web portal, Philippine Revolution Web Central (PRWC) on Friday, April 22, Sison condemned the report published by Journal Online which was supposedly carried by CPP's official news organ, Ang Bayan.
The report alleged that Sison has been advising Robredo in her presidential candidacy but the exiled communist leader insisted he never even met the writer of the report for an interview.
However, he acknowledged that Robredo "is a far more qualified candidate" than rival Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
"I have not been advising Leni Robredo although I think that she is a far more qualified candidate for president than Ferdinand Jr. who has no qualification but to campaign with too much money from the bureaucratic loot of the late unlamented fascist dictator, Ferdinand Sr.," Sison said.
Sison also belied claims he was in communication with Robredo's spokesperson, lawyer Barry Gutierrez.
"I repeat that Robredo is far more qualified as candidate for president than a spoiled brat like Marcos who is a keeper of money and other assets stolen from the people and who wants to revive the brutal and corrupt rule of his father and continue the same kind of rule by Duterte," Sison said.
The camp of Robredo has already denied the reported link of Sison to her, and vowed to take legal action against individuals who spread the malicious report.
