The City Health Office (CHO) said the number of dengue cases has reached 1,135 since January last year, forcing it to declare an outbreak in the area.

“We are still in outbreak mode and tan monitor siempre kila el maga caso,” (We are still in outbreak mode and we are still monitoring the cases.) said City Health officer Dr. Dulce Miravite.

Most of the patients who died were below 20 years of age.

Miravite directed personnel to conduct fogging operations in barangays where there is a high number of dengue cases.

The increase in dengue cases has been attributed to the continuous rains during the past weeks due to the low pressure area and the two tropical depressions.
