Youth-oriented group NSDS backs Escudero’s Senate comeback bid

The youth-oriented Nationalist Social-Democratic Society (NSDS) has announced it is supporting senatorial candidate and Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero’s Senate comeback bid.

In a Facebook post, the NSDS said it is endorsing Escudero and 11 other senatorial bets based on their platforms, academic performance and track records.

The NSDS said they believed that the 12 senatorial candidates they are endorsing are “deserving, willing, have integrity, loyalty, excellence, and courage to fight corruption, promote human rights, youth empowerment, sustainable development, and good governance.”

A former senator for 12 years, Escudero said he would focus on giving more autonomy to local government units, ensure the judicious and wise utilization of the annual budget, and help transition the pandemic-weary economy to recovery, among others, if he wins the May 2022 senatorial race.

Incidentally, Escudero also emerged as among the preferred senators in the latest OCTA Research survey, which was conducted from April 2 to 6 and publicly released on April 17.

The survey showed 50 percent of the respondents saying they would vote for Escudero, the only incumbent governor who is gunning for a Senate seat.

Escudero ranked from 2 to 6 in the OCTA Research Senatorial Preference survey. The survey polled 1,200 samples and has a margin of error of +/-3 percent.

The former legislator has remained the popular choice for senator especially among students, as shown in the various campus mock polls conducted by at least 36 colleges and universities across the country.

The League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) has also included Escudero in the list of six senatorial bets it is endorsing for the May 9 polls.
