Fire displaces 20 families in Barangay Malanday, Marikina City


Around 20 families or 50 individuals were displaced by a fire that hit nine homes at Mango Street, Purok 3 in Barangay Malanday, Marikina City on Monday morning, April 18.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire reached the first alarm at 10:47 a.m. and the second alarm at 11:07 a.m.

The fire was put under control at 11:37 a.m. and was declared out at 12:05 p.m.

No casualties or injured persons were reported by the Marikina City Fire Station (CFS).

Senior Fire Officer IV Gremar V. Dela Torre, the arson investigator at the scene, said the fire originated in the bedroom located on the second floor of the house owned by Rowena David.

Probers are still determining the cause of the fire.

The fire left some P150,000 worth of damage.

Marikina Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro came to the site of the incident to inspect and provide for the needs of the families affected.
