The reunion of the former members of K-pop girl group 2NE1 at Coachella 2022 has earned congratulations from celebrities and fans.
CL, Dara, Minzy and Park Bom surprised everyone when they performed “I’m The Best” at Coachella’s main stage on April 16 as part of 88rising’s Head in the Clouds Forever set. CL also had a solo performance.
On Instagram, Dara posted posted of 2NE1’s Coachella appearance and her iconic hairstyle.
Celebrities replied and congratulated 2NE1 for the reunion performance after they disbanded in 2016.
“Congrats! It was good to see you and the gang at Coachella,” wrote Korean rapper Tiger JK of the group Drunken Tiger.
Paolo Valenciano posted, “My brain ?.”
“Hair!!! You go girl!!! 21,” said fashion model Lee Sora.
“You are the Best,” wrote Redd Kross’ Jeff McDonald.
Other celebrities who congratulated 2NE1 and celebrated their performance include Korean actress Lee Hanee, Momoland’s JooE and Jane, musical actor Kim Ho-young, songwriter Kim Eana, Korean rapper DinDin, composer Code Kunst, Japanese fashion model Kozue Akimoto, British artist Philip Colbert, fashion model Hyoni Kang, singer Bada and choreographer Bae Yoon-jung, Lee Hi, singer Se7en, Singaporean actress Tay Ying and Joon Park.
CL wrote on Instagram, “I am grateful and blessed to be alive with pleasure. Long enough to witness the marks I make and things I create blossom.”
She added, "The reason why I decided to invite the members after I was invited to perform at Coachella, is because I wanted to see us reunite on our terms before it's too late. Through this performance, I wanted to relay my gratefulness to everyone who has been supporting and loving 2NE1 for the past 12 years," according to SBS News.
"For that very reason, today was the most important and meaningful day for me. Thanks to this very moment of today, I hope you could relive the post emotions that you felt through us. I want to express my thanks to the members who dazzled today's stage, and to everyone who worked together to make this come true. I will keep running until the day we could perform a full hour on this stage," said CL.
One funny incident happened while 2NE1 members were performing on stage: Dara lost her right shoe. Video of 2NE1’s performance showed Dara losing her shoe and sock when she kicked. Dara posted a photo of her feet without one shoe on Twitter.
“Kung nakaninong Prince Charming man ang Sapatos ni Cinderella paki balik na ang sapatos (Whoever Prince Charming has Cinderella’s shoe, please return it),” Filipino actor Joross Gamboa commented on Dara’s Instagram.
Dara and Gamboa were contestants on ABS-CBN’s “Star Circle Quest” in 2004 before she debuted in 2NE1. The two ended up as runners-up in the contest.
For their Coachella gig, 2NE1 donned Alexander Wang outfits.
