Police arrested a businessman who allegedly tried to kidnap his former live-in partner in Parañaque City on Wednesday afternoon, April 13.
The suspect, identified as Franklin John Abanilla, 37, a resident of San Pedro, Laguna, was nabbed by members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the Parañaque City Police. He is now detained at the city police custodial facility.
Abanila is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act), and illegal possession of firearms in relation to Omnibus Election Code.
The police said the incident happened at about 4:00 p.m. along Bradco Avenue in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.
Investigation showed the victim, Rugeline Ugat, 23, was dragged by the suspect into his van and shocked her twice with a taser gun.
Ugat struggled to free herself and shouted for help from Aseana security guards who called for police assistance.
The suspect tried to evade the responding members of SWAT but he was arrested and the victim was rescued after a brief chase.
Police recovered from the suspect a .9mm pistol loaded with six live bullets, one electric shock device, and a handcuff.
