DSWD, LGUs provide aid to ‘Agaton’-affected families

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and local government units (LGUs) have so far provided over P21.1 million worth of assistance to families affected by tropical depression Agaton (international name: “Megi”).

As of 6 p.m., on Tuesday, April 12, DSWD has already provided P16.9 million worth of humanitarian assistance to affected localities in Region XI (Davao Region).

The LGUs in Regions VI (Western Visayas) and Caraga (Region XIII) have also distributed aid worth P4.2 million to the affected families.

DSWD assured the public that it has sufficient resources for its disaster response operations, maintaining stockpiles and standby funds amounting to P1.22 billion.

Of this amount, around P146 million are the available standby funds of the central office and field offices.

Meanwhile, the current stockpiles being maintained by the DSWD amount to about P1.078 billion composed of 500,000 family food packs, non-food items, and other food items.

The breakdown of the abovementioned P1.22 billion in funds and stockpiles is as follows: DSWD Field Office (FO) V with P60 million available standby and stockpile funds; FO VI (P29 million); FO VII (P44 million); FO VIII (P36 million); FO X (P78 million); FO XI (P39 million); FO CARAGA (P133 million); and DSWD Central Office and other DSWD FOs (P800 million).

The DSWD, through its concerned FOs, committed to continue to closely coordinate with concerned LGUs and monitor the situation of affected families.
