BTS breaks own Guinness World Records title for most music group wins at Kids’ Choice Awards

K-pop boy band BTS not only won Favorite Music Group at the Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA) 2022 but broke their own world record as well.

Guinness World Records announced on April 12 that BTS set a new record for the most KCA blimps won by a music group with six, eclipsing their own record set last year.

BTS set a new record for the most wins for a music group at the Kids' Choice Awards (Big Hit Music, KCA)

“New month, new shoutout to BTS (South Korea) for breaking yet another record. This time, the band have bettered their previous most Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards blimps won by a music group title after breaking the record for the second year in a row,” according to the Guinness World Records website.

This year’s KCA ceremony was held on April 9 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

BTS bagged the Favorite Music Group award for the third straight year from 2020 to 2022.

They were unable to attend the ceremony due to their Las Vegas concert, which was held on the same day.

“Thank you KCA and ARMY for Favorite Music Group award,” said RM in a video message.

“This award is for you ARMY,” said Jimin while Suga said, “We are touched by your love and cheer. We will never ever stop trying our best.”

According to Guinness, “The result didn’t only surpass BTS' current record of five victories, but also broke the tie with the American pop and R&B girl group Fifth Harmony. This crowned BTS as the group with the highest number of KCA nods overall ever.”

It added, “Moreover, taking home the accolade meant that the septet have tied with The Black Eyed Peas (US), One Direction (UK), and Fifth Harmony (US) in becoming a three-time Favorite Music Group winner. Black Eyed Peas and One Direction lost the most Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards blimps won by a music group record title to BTS and Fifth Harmony last year.”

Besides winning Favorite Music Group, BTS also won at the KCA the following awards: Favorite Global Music Star in 2018 and 2021, and Favorite Song for "Dynamite" in 2021.

This year, before the KCA win, BTS set three new Guinness World Record titles: most followers on Instagram for a music group, most followers on Twitter for a music group and most followers on TikTok for a music group.
