'PBB' teens receive mixed reaction for seeming inadequacy relating to PH history
What is the nickname of Jose Rizal?
How about Gregorio del Pilar?
Who is the hero depicted on the current five peso coin?
These are just some of the questions asked in the History Quiz Bee challenge of this year's edition of "Pinoy Big Brother" as participated in by several housemates.
It quickly became hot topic on social media.

Some netizens expressed alarm that some participants weren't able to answer even the simplest of questions.
The show's host, Robi Domingo, who also facilitated the challenge, expressed his dismay on social media.
He tweeted: "Sa una, nakakatawa pero habang tumatagal, di na nakakatuwa. Sana maging daan ito para makita kung ano ang kakulangan sa sistema ng ating edukasyon."
Robi also posted a video of two housemates who failed to recall the portmanteau identifying Mariano Gomez, José Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora, the three Filipino Catholic priests executed by the Spanish for their alleged participation in the Cavite Mutiny of 1872.
Instead of GOMBURZA, one of them actually answered "MAJOHA."

Meanwhile, here are some comments from online users:
"This episode is quite alarming. PH History is taught during elementary days and even in high school to college. hearing the answers of these kids are very disappointing and heartbreaking. please let the kids learn the PH History, once and for all."
"It shows here that you need to be calm before giving your answer. Trust yourself also. Go KAI."
"Sana laging may Ganitong games para refresher..."
"I’ve been living abroad for almost 7 years, & grade 6 ako umalis. Even now I still know majority of phil basic history. This is so sad the reality of youth ay hindi alam ang basic history ng pilipinas. Not hating sa mga hm! good job pa din guys!"
"Nakakabahala ito. Jusmiyo! Sana pumasok sila sa School after PBB."
"I was really shocked, batang 90's here noon kahit batang yagit pag tinanong mo s phil history may alam.. nakaka gulat yun mga sagot nila. thankful ako nasa panahon ako mg manual lang ang lahat dahil mas natuto ako. sana somehow may alam tayo kung saan tayo naninirahan."
"People were clowning Kai on FB. She won. I get why some people are annoyed, but smaller bits of knowledge are easier to forget. Plus, let's be honest, we remember names, but history is way more than that."
"This is a bit alarming because almost all the questions were taught in the Elementary and High School days so disturbing that almost the others in the group had a mental block with simple questions just like "the longest bridge" and the "three priests placed by death "DepEd really needs to focus on the lack of instruction for all students whether private or public."
"College instructor ako nagturo ako ng philippine and world literature ng ilang taon wid a little history on the side.
