One Cebu sides with Marcos in Palace race


CEBU CITY, Cebu—One Cebu, the ruling party here in Cebu province, has declared its support for UniTeam presidential bet Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

One Cebu released a statement signed by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia just before a scheduled covenant signing with the UniTeam Alliance here on Tuesday, April 12.

"The decision follows weeks of extensive consultations and discussions with provincial, municipal, and barangay leaders in the 44 municipalities and cities (including Mandaue City) of the Province of Cebu," read the statement signed by Garcia on April 12.

"The interests of the Cebuanos are best served if we unite behind the leadership of BBM as president, and, as we have earlier announced, Mayor Sara Duterte as vice president," Garcia's statement on behalf of One Cebu read.

UniTeam leaders Marcos and Mayor Duterte will be present at the covenant signing later in the day.

Previously, One Cebu endorsed the lady mayor's vice presidential bet.

Cebu is the most vote-rich province in the country with a population of 3,252,696 registered voters.
