“Presidential frontrunner Bongbong Marcos’s net trust rating of 53 percent provides us with the motivation to continue with our positive way of campaigning," Rodriguez, a lawyer, said in a statement Tuesday, April 12.

"Mrs. Robredo and her yellow crew can no longer deceive the Filipino people as we have all been awaken from their propaganda of lies, falsehood and politics of deception," he said, as if avoiding to refer to Robredo as the vice president.

"In the spirit of lent, I admonish you not to pass on to us your brand of fake, hateful, negative and gutter politics," Rodriguez said in reference to Robredo, adding, "Enough of your deceptions.”

Earlier Tuesday, Robredo pointed to the Marcos camp as the alleged source of the smear campaign against Aika. The elder Robredo is a far second to UniTeam member Marcos as per the latest presidential surveys.

"Presidential frontrunner Bongbong Marcos has based his campaign solely on his call for unity anchored on the strengths and merits of his vision and platform for the future of our country, especially the youth that has resonated throughout the land and we shall keep it that way until the very end," Rodriguez further said.

Robredo beat Marcos by the skin of her teeth in the 2016 vice presidential race, a result that the latter protested.
