Seven nations are participating in the said division with Group A composed of defending champion Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Myanmar.

The Nationals are seeking to eclipse their historic silver medal finish in the 2019 edition that the country hosted.

Volleyball competitions will take place from May 13 to 22 at the 7,000-seater Quang Ninh Gymnasium in Quang Ninh Province.

The top two teams from each group after the round-robin preliminaries will advance to the crossover semifinals while the remaining teams will play in classification rounds for fifth to seventh places.

The Filipino spikers start their campaign against Cambodia on Day 1, followed by Thailand on Day 2.

The national women’s team, meanwhile, will play a round-robin elimination against four squads composed of perennial champion Thailand, silver medalist Vietnam, bronze winner Indonesia and Malaysia.

After the elims, only the top two teams will battle it out for the eventual crown, while teams finishing third and fourth will compete for the bronze.

The Filipina spikers, who finished fourth and last in 2019, will first take on Malaysia on May 15, followed by Thailand on May 15, Indonesia on May 17, and Vietnam on May 18.

The PH men’s team have been training extensively in Qatar while the women’s team is scheduled to leave for a training camp in Brazil on Tuesday.
