PH Coast Guard rescues two passengers of capsized banca in Basilan waters


ZAMBOANGA CITY - Two male passengers of a motorized banca that capsized in Isabela City waters were rescued by Philippine Coast Guard Basilan personnel on Monday, April 11.

A report from the Philippine Coast Guard said that the PCG in Basilan rescued the two passengers of the motor banca "Jarayfa" which capsized in the Basilan Channel Monday morning.

The boat, which was reportedly headed for Zamboanga City from Malamawi Island in Isabela, capsized after it encountered strong winds and strong waves.

Crew members of the MV Seajet of Aleson Shipping Lines reported the incident to the Philippine Coast Guard in Basilan after witnessing the incident.

The victims were brought to Isabela City where they were declared in good physical condition.

The Philippine Coast Guard Basilan Deployable Response Group was placed on alert since yesterday for possible emergencies brought about by Tropical Depression Agaton.
