Tropical depression Agaton (international name: Megi) has weakened into a low pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, April 12.

The LPA – formerly “Agaton” – was spotted in the coastal waters of Guiuan, eastern Samar and it is moving southeastward slowly.

Despite its further weakening, the state weather bureau warned of heavy rains that may still persist in eastern Visayas, Sorsogon, Masbate, the northern and central portions of Cebu including Camotes and Bantayan Islands, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, and the northern and central portions of Negros Provinces.

PAGASA, in its latest bulletin, said that “Agaton” (international name: Megi) was located in the vicinity of Llorente, eastern Samar with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 75 kph.

Tropical depression Agaton (international name: Megi) continues to “slowly move away” from the Philippine landmass and it was last spotted in the vicinity of Llorente, eastern Samar, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, April 12.

The center of “Agaton” was last seen in the vicinity of Llorente, eastern Samar. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph), gustiness of up to 75 kph, and it is moving eastward slowly.

According to PAGASA’s latest bulletin issued as of 2 p.m., only eastern Samar, Samar, northern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, southern Leyte, Camotes Island, and Dinagat Islands remain under tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) no. 1.

The state weather bureau, in its latest bulletin, said that tropical depression Agaton was last spotted in the vicinity of Balangiga, eastern Samar. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph), gustiness of up to 75 kph, and it is moving eastward slowly.

Due to “Agaton,” tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) no. 1 is still raised over the southern portion of Masbate, eastern Samar, Samar, northern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, southern Leyte, the northeastern portion of Cebu including Camotes Island, and Dinagat Islands.

Although it is forecast to “continue meandering” in the vicinity of Samar-Leyte area in the next 6 to 12 hours, PAGASA said that the tropical depression is expected to “deteriorate into a remnant low” within the next 24 hours. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)

Tropical depression Agaton (international name: Megi) continues to affect most parts of the country and it was last spotted in the vicinity of Santa Rita, Samar, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, April 11.

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 70 kph, and it is moving north northwestward slowly.

Meanwhile, the severe tropical storm outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) which has the international name “Malakas” was last spotted 1,255 km east of southern Luzon as of 11 p.m. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in its latest bulletin issued as of 8 p.m., said that “Agaton” has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 60 kph.

The center of tropical depression Agaton (international name: Megi) has made landfall over Basey, Samar, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, April 11.

It was last spotted in the vicinity of Basey, Samar with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, gustiness of up to 60 kph and it remained almost stationary.

Due to the impacts of tropical depression Agaton, tropical cyclone wind signal (TVWS) no. 1 is still raised in the southern portion of Masbate, eastern Samar, Samar, northern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, the northeastern portion of Cebu including Camotes Island, the eastern portion of Bohol, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands. Four areas in Eastern Visayas remained under tropical cyclone wind signal number 2 as storm Agaton (international name: Megi) continued to move “very slowly” over the coastal waters of Tanauan, Leyte, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)

Signal No. 2 was still hoisted over the southern portion of Eastern Samar, southern portion of Samar, Biliran, northern portion of Leyte.

Meanwhile, the southern portion of Masbate, the rest of Eastern Samar, the rest of Samar, Northern Samar, the rest of Leyte, Southern Leyte, the northeastern portion of Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Island, the eastern portion of Bohol, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Island remained under Signal No. 1.

PAGASA said Agaton maintained its maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph but may weaken into a tropical depression in the next few hours due to land interaction.

Tropical storm Agaton (international name: Megi) has slightly weakened and is about to make another landfall over Leyte province, the PAGASA said.

As of 10 p.m, Agaton has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph, and was already over the coastal waters of Mayorga, Leyte.

The center of tropical storm Agaton (Megi) was spotted over the coastal waters of Lawaan, Eastern Samar.

It has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph, while continuously moving westward slowly.

Tropical storm Agaton (International name: Megi) was last spotted over the coastal waters of Lawaan, eastern Samar and it is still moving slowly, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, April 10.

The state weather bureau, in its bulletin issued as of 5 p.m., said that “Agaton” has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, gustiness of up to 105 kph, and is moving westward slowly.

Due to tropical storm Agaton, moderate to heavy with at times intense rains is expected over Masbate, Sorsogon, Eastern Visayas, Cebu, Bohol, and Dinagat Islands in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the tropical storm outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) which has the international name “Malakas” is expected to enter PAR by late Monday (April 11) or early Tuesday (April 12). Once it enters PAR, it will be given the local name “Basyang.” (Charie Mae F. Abarca)

Tropical storm Agaton (International name: Megi) maintained its strength despite having made landfall over Guiuan, Eastern Samar, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, April 10.

The center of “Agaton” was last spotted over the coastal waters of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph), gustiness up to 105 kph, and is moving westward slowly.

PAGASA likewise stated that the center of tropical storm Agaton made landfall in Calicoan Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 10.

Due to the impacts of the tropical storm, tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) no. 2 remained hoisted over the southern portion of eastern Samar, southern portion of Samar, the northeastern portion of southern Leyte, and the northern portion of Dinagat Islands.

Tropical storm Agaton has made landfall over Calicoan Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar at around 7:30 a.m., Sunday, April 10, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Prior to its landfall, Agaton has further intensified packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph. It is projected to move west-northwestward at 10 kph.

Parts of Eastern Visayas have been placed under tropical cyclone wind signal number 2 as tropical depression Agaton intensified into a tropical storm on Sunday morning.

PAGASA said Agaton has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

As of 4 a.m., the center of Agaton was over the coastal waters of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

The center of tropical depression Agaton was estimated based on all available data including those from Guiuan doppler weather radar at 90 km east-southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Agaton remains almost stationary over the sea east of Eastern Samar.

Tropical depression Agaton may intensify into a tropical storm within the next 12 to 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 11 p.m. bulletin on Saturday, April 9.

Based on the latest bulletin, Agaton has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph. PAGASA said it has barely moved in the last six hours.

PAGASA estimated the location of the center of Agaton at 115 kilometers east-southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar as of 10 p.m.

It estimated the location of Agaton at 130 kilometers east-southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar while moving northeastward slowly.

Tropical depression Agaton may bring more rains over the eastern sections of southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in the next 24 to 48 hours, as the weather disturbance is seen to remain stationary or move slowly over the coast of Eastern Visayas within the next two days.
