Tropical depression Agaton (international name: Megi) has weakened into a low pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, April 12.
The LPA – formerly “Agaton” – was spotted in the coastal waters of Guiuan, eastern Samar and it is moving southeastward slowly.
Despite its further weakening, the state weather bureau warned of heavy rains that may still persist in eastern Visayas, Sorsogon, Masbate, the northern and central portions of Cebu including Camotes and Bantayan Islands, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, and the northern and central portions of Negros Provinces.

Tropical depression Agaton (international name: Megi) continues to “slowly move away” from the Philippine landmass and it was last spotted in the vicinity of Llorente, eastern Samar, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, April 12.
The center of “Agaton” was last seen in the vicinity of Llorente, eastern Samar. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph), gustiness of up to 75 kph, and it is moving eastward slowly.
According to PAGASA’s latest bulletin issued as of 2 p.m., only eastern Samar, Samar, northern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, southern Leyte, Camotes Island, and Dinagat Islands remain under tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) no. 1.

Tropical storm Agaton has made landfall over Calicoan Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar at around 7:30 a.m., Sunday, April 10, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Prior to its landfall, Agaton has further intensified packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph. It is projected to move west-northwestward at 10 kph.
