Pampanga delivers new record-breaking number of Robredo's campaign attendees

Pampanga province delivered on Saturday night a new record-breaking number of individuals who gathered to support the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo to replace what Pasig City tallied in less than a month ago.

Local police and organizers estimated the crowd in San Fernando City to be at 220,000, beating the previous record of 90,000 supporters that filled the stretch of Emerald Ave. in Ortigas Center on March 20.

The huge number of supporters came, although former 1st District Pampanga Rep. Gloria Arroyo recently said she "see a landslide victory" for Robredo's main poll rival, former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

Before this, Robredo also barnstormed Angeles City, where she recalled her projects for the province during her term as vice president. These include cash assistance to local hospitals, livelihood programs for homeowners association members, and Covid-19-related response, among others.

"Akala ko lahat ng tao nandoon sa San Fernando... pero maraming salamat at sinalubong niyo pa din kami ngayong hapon (I thought all of you are in San Fernando... but thank you for welcoming us here this afternoon)," she said.

A Facebook user whose post about the event became trending was also left convinced that the province is "the culinary capital of the Philippines" as snacks and rice meals—which included the tocino of a famous local brand—were given away for free.

"May (There are) sisig at nuggets station. Meron din samalamig (There is also refreshment) station. San ka pa (Where else do you want to go)?" Del Laddaran said.
