BOC seizes P600M worth of smuggled products in Cavite raid


The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized some P600 million worth of smuggled products in a raid in Kati, Cavite.

In statement, the BOC said its Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Intellectual Property Rights Division (CIIS-IPRD) was able to confiscate the smuggled products which are described as fake products based on the confirmed intelligence reports.

Armed with a Letter of Authority (LOA) issued by BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, the implementing team inspected a warehouse located in Toclong-San Sebastian Road in Kati and found the smuggled items.

The smuggled fake precuts are composed of motorcycle accessories, footwears and apparels.

Under Republic Act (R.A.) No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), infringing goods are prohibited articles and should immediately be seized or confiscated. Further investigation is also underway for other possible violations of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (RA 8293) and the CMTA.
