Executive Assistant Dionilo Bogtae, head of the Public Safety and Sipalay Emergency Assistance and Rescue Services (SEARS), said that residents of Barangays 1 and 2 experienced knee-level flood while residents of Brgy. 4 experienced waist-level flood.

Bogtae said the massive flood was mainly due to waters upstream that cascaded. The water quickly subsided, hence no evacuation was necessary. There were no damages and injuries were reported, according to Bogtae.

Sipalay City is one of the areas in southern Negros which was severely hit by Super Typhoon Odette in December 2021.

Thus, Bogtae said that people are now aware whenever rains occur, adding that they are closely monitoring the weather condition and the situation, especially the eight coastal barangays in their area of responsibility.
