"Qatar is the third largest country for overseas Filipino work force. Thus, the Filipino market is naturally a crucial one for us," Dimitrov said in an interview with Manila Bulletin Business. Filipinos already account for a large number of the airline's staff and overall Cabin Crew population.

"Filipinos are known for being warm, smart and friendly with excellent English ability. These qualities are essential in frontline, customer-facing roles," Dimitrov explained.

The recruitment drive in Philippines will kick-off from Manila on April 18-21, with roadshows planned across Cebu, Clark and Davao in the coming weeks.

The national carrier of the State of Qatar Airways is rebuilding and expanding its global team to serve its network of over 140 destinations as the aviation sector recovers from the pandemic.

"We remain optimistic on leisure travel as we’re aware of the global pent-up demand for travel," he maintained.

"It will definitely bounce back and with the reopening of the Asia Pacific and Southeast Asia region, we’re already seeing the return of leisure bookings."

In addition, "We remain confident that business travel will steadily return, limited by entry restrictions rather than consumer confidence."

"The Philippines has always been an important recruitment market for Qatar Airways," the executive reiterated.

"Historically, there has been a strong ties between Qatar and the Philippines, with bilateral ties spanning over four decades. Over 250,000 Filipinos work in Qatar, accounting for 17 percent of the population."

Furthermore, "We’re the only one in the world that has won the Skytrax Airline of the Year six times, we naturally want to recruit the best to join us in service excellence. Thus, our Filipino recruitment drive is a very important one in ramping up our operation."

The jobs offer the chance to explore the world, alongside a competitive tax-free income, including accommodation, allowances and transportation for duty.

As far as training cabin crew and staff is concerned, "Qatar Airways offers the best in industry service and safety".

From day one, they train in world-class facilities with technical, safety, service and soft skills. They also receive recurrent and refresher training to upskill themselves throughout their tenure.

As one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, Qatar Airways continuously provides staff with promotion opportunities and career development programs through all areas of the business.

"We are also open to any collaborations to support tourism recovery in the Philippines, and are already planning a series of activities to help with reopening recovery," Dimitrov concluded.
