BaliPure banked on a strong fourth set to survive Chery Tiggo, 15-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-22, 15-7, and finish the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on a bright note at The Arena in San Juan City Tuesday.
The Water Defenders came through with down-the-line plays in the crunch with five players scoring in double figures in the classification match.
Bernadeth Flora and Marian Buitre scored 14 and 13 points while combining for 22 kills for BaliPure, while Janine Marciano chipped in 11 points.
Norielle Ipac and Gen Casugod also spelled the difference by firing 10 points apiece.
Despite the win, BaliPure ended up ninth in the classification points system with two points, while Chery Tiggo finished eighth with three points – a far cry from their championship feat last year.
Black Mamba Army claimed seventh place with four points.
