Petro Gazz showed nerves of steel as it outlasted Cignal with a come-from-behind 25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 26-24, 18-16 win Sunday to force a winner-take-all semifinal game Monday night in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Myla Pablo, who played sparingly in a scoreless outing in a 25-21, 25-23, 25-23 defeat in Game 1 Friday, answered the call and fired 19 points including the kill that sealed the win to knot the best-of-three series to one game apiece.

The decider is set at 6 p.m. Monday at The Arena in San Juan City.

Given up for dead after falling to match points in the fourth and the fifth sets, the Angels fought back twice including in the last frame when Pablo completed the comeback with a crisp spike in the middle.

“Sabi namin relax lang, hindi pa tapos ang game. Lalaban tayo hanggang dulo,” said Pablo.

Grethcel Soltones, Aiza Pontillas and Remy Palma also came through in the clutch with combined 39 points.

Ces Molina paced all scorers with 19 points while skipper Rachel Anne Daquis and Roselyn Doria added 17 and 13 points, respectively, for Cignal but they were lost in the end after getting buried in the din of Petro Gazz’s spirited fightback.
