CAAP pushes for more airports with night flight capabilities
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) assured airline passengers of its readiness and preparedness amid the expected influx of passengers for "summer".
One of the measures being pushed by the CAAP is for most airports to have night flights capabilities.
Out of 83 airports being supervised by the CAAP, 42 have commercial operations; while 41 are municipal airports and do not operate commercial flights.
"Construction is still ongoing in airports with night landing capabilities, which will aid in decongesting busy airports such as the NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) and other international airports in provinces," the CAAP statement read.
Airports with night flights capabilities are the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the Clark International Airport Authority (CIAC), the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), the Davao International Airport, the Kalibo International Airport and the Laoag International Airport
Others are the Dumaguete Airport (Limited hours of operation upon request), Old Legazpi Airport, Roxas Airport, Caticlan Airport (Limited type of aircraft is allowed provided weather is visual meteorological condition), Panglao-Bohol Airport, Tuguegarao Airport (Special Operations on Take-off), Cotabato (Departure Only), Bicol International Airport, Puerto Princesa International Airport, Zamboanga Airport, Bacolod-Silay Airport, Butuan Airport, Iloilo International Airport, Laguindingan Airport, Tacloban Airport and General Santos Airport.
The following airports are set for night rating starting this year onwards: Cauayan Airport, Tuguegarao Airport (Fully Night Rated), Dipolog Airport, Pagadian Airport, Ozamis Airport, Calbayog Airport and Catbalogan Airport.
